The above photo shows the types of ears that we produce here at Snowbound Schnauzers. Yes some of our schnauzers have ear crop, this does not mean the parents had bad ears. This is a preference of what we like here and depending on what we think would make the schnauzer look their best with, ear crop or natural. All of the pups in the picture above except for two belong to cropped parents. As you can see all have lovely ears. The below picture shows the stand up ears, and what we like to call the "crazy" ears. One boy is the other boy's Uncle by sister/brother pedigree. Our girl would produce 50% stand up "model" and the other 50% perfect naturally set, it did not matter who the sire was. She would just produce what she had. So ears are genetically inherited. Most times we can tell by the time your pup leaves if ear cropping should be done, however there has been some cases it takes until they are 7 months old to straighten out.
Cropped ears are listed above. As you can see cropped can look just as good as natural and it all depends on what your preference is when it comes to natural vs. cropped. Two of the boys listed are brothers from different litters however the first pictures showing great natural ears are siblings to these boys as well. The one in the snow is a brother and Uncle to two of the pups listed above this picture.
